Aaaand we’re up to where I am now. Waiting on the spray paint to dry, then the hard part of adding the designs on the outside in pen, then going over it with paint to make it “3D”.
Progress shots of my pauldrons. First time making armor. Also using a tutorial, so if anyone has a suggestion, feel free!
The base is made of craft foam, I then coated the inside with three layers of white school glue. I thrn added a raw cotton backing to help stabilize and give body to the foam. When it dried, I spray painted it the colour I will be using on the outside.
Brightened the Triforce and darkened the green, also tried to make the gradient in the blue more apparent. We shall see once it dries how things look!
Twilight Princess Zelda now has a deadline for ConBravo! 2013. :)
I also took on another project special for a classmate of mine. She is a huuuuge fan of Digimon and wanted someone to wear her Sora costume with to classes(since Hallowe’en falls on a Wednesday, methinks). Therefore, I am doing human!Lillymon. Firstly because she’s adorable, secondly because I can FINALLY buy a pink wig for a purpose, rofl. Gotta have a pink wig in my inventory!
I may also have an opportunity to be a part of “Cosplay for a Cure” here in Ontario, Canada. A friend of mine and a bunch of her cosplaying friends put it together to raise funds for Breast Cancer research in the Ontario region. They want to plan the next event(or future events) where the characters being cosplayed have some part of their costumes in pink, instead of regular colours. So both Zelda and Lillymon will get to be a part of that. Super excited to help out, and I hope they let me know soon! <3
There was also a cosplay picnic today in my area that I wore my freshly improved Sailor Mars fuku to, I’ll put some pics of that up whenever I am tagged in them on Facebook, lol.
Calling quits for the night. This is what progress I’ve made so far! I’ve done the green on the bottom as well, but it needs to be dulled a bit. Too vibrant!
So this is my next progress shot.
My back couldn’t deal with being hunched over the machine anymore, lol.
About an hour or so in, and this is the result so far. :) There’re some flaws I’ll go over after when the rest is done. Not by any means perfect, but this is just me and a normal sewing machine. No fancy embroidery stuff or anything.
So excited to get it finished!
The beginnings of my Zelda tabard. Next up: Sewing on a backing fabric, adding the black stitching and tossing it back in the wash to get rid of any of the blue chalk pencil. Then painting begins!
..And it’s from my boss’s son.
..And it’s Ezio from Assassin’s Creed.
How screwed am I? Be honest, lmao. In all honesty, I’ve been looking up reference images since I got home from work, I could get it all worked out but I have to make the patterns myself, and he wants it for Hallowe’en. As much as I probably need this money, I think I might have to decline. :S Not to mention I don’t want to charge my boss the amount of money it’s going to take to get it done. Also, I don’t know the first thing about leatherworking(as much as I am DYING to learn!) nor do I have the tools.
I don’t think I’d have the time between getting Archer done and Sailor Mars fixed up for ConBravo! and FanExpo. At the same time, I want to devote some time to working on Twilight Princess Princess Zelda.
I want to say yes so bad just for the opportunity to make something I wouldn’t normally do.
